WCBB? Blue Ridge Mountains
The Blue Ridge Mountains (BRM) are nestled between the Appalachian Valley to the West and the Piedmont to the East, and form part of the Appalachian Trail (AT). They are so named because the trees supported by the mid-eastern climate give a bluish tint when viewed from a distance. The Blue Ridge contain the highest summit points in the Eastern US - among these is Mount Mitchell in North Carolina, the tallest peak of both the Blue Ridge and AT at 6,684 ft. The Blue Ridge are also home to two national parks, Great Smokey Mountain to the South and Shenandoah to the North. These mountains are filled with natural beauty, hikes, and places to sight-see, with more than 100 peaks that exceed 5,000 feet. With all of this to offer - What Could Be Better?
